When I was first handed a gourd full of yerba mate, freshly filled with hot water, I was a little taken aback by the metal straw sticking into a small pot full of tea. I was told it gives you better energy than coffee and has more health benefits than green tea, so I tried it. It tasted like a bitter sweet green tea and it was true. I felt much more clear headed yet still buzzing with energy not long after having a few drinks out of the mate gourd.
In 2008 as a sophomore in college, I began drinking so much yerba mate to see me through my studies that I began to order it in bulk from various yerba mate companies. That same year I began selling it at the local outdoor market as a loose leaf tea. When I started selling an iced yerba mate tea with honey, sales really started to improve and I realized yerba mate can be prepared in place of pretty much any coffee or tea recipe. Not only did I get to drink as much yerba mate as I wanted, I was actually sharing this amazing product with people and learning alot along the way.
After all these years, we’ve tried just about every kind of yerba mate there is, almost every way you can think of making it. Today we’re proud to offer not only some of the finest yerba mate available, but our years of expertise from experimenting with various types and preparations of yerba mate.
